Mrs. Higdon's kindergarteners discussed community helpers and what they do. Friday, they also discussed Patriot’s Day and the importance of remembering what happened 25 years ago. They showed they will NEVER FORGET by reading books and making a special craft ❤️🤍💙

Next Thursday, September 3rd, our 3rd-grade students will take the state-required Beginning of Grade (BOG) Reading Test. It is very important that your child(ren) arrive at school on time, get a good night’s sleep the night before, and eat a good breakfast that morning.
Please schedule any appointments or other activities after their test administration for the day. Students may not be dismissed from the test setting once testing has begun for the day.

We didn't just welcome our kiddos back this week. We also welcomed Mrs. King's classroom pet leopard geckos, Tarzan and Jane.
Her 4th-graders learned all about them before getting them out. There was so much excitement when they could hold them for the first time! The lizards even enjoyed the extra attention too! 🦎💚

At the August 6th, North Carolina State Board of Education meeting, State Board members stated that they will carefully review the proposal and all accompanying materials using the criteria established in North Carolina law. At this time, they anticipate discussing the review process, timeline, and next steps at their September meeting.

Please consider submitting your public comment on why they should NOT move forward with the merger by emailing Tiffany Lucas, General Counsel for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, tiffany.lucas@dpi.nc.gov ..

Make your voice heard and make it clear why Newton-Conover City Schools should remain untouched and allowed to continue their excellence, independent of others, for generations to come.

Check out 4th-grade teacher Ms. Burkhalter and her beau, who took on the North Atlantic Ocean, cruising around Norway, Iceland, and Scotland... including visiting The Elephant House, where author J.K. Rowling had her first book published while she was writing in the back room overlooking Edinburgh Castle, making it the “birthplace” of the series of Harry Potter novels, which many of our kiddos (and staff) LOVE! 😍
